Children from 3 years of age are taught Ballroom & Latin at Poole & bournemouth's premier Dance Venue, The 1st dance studio within weekly classes & private tuition.  Children can either learn to dance for fun, take medals or compete.  you never now they may be the next champion!

1st Dance Kids Medal Club

 Every Saturday 11.00am-12.00pm

You are never too young for Ballroom & Latin in our weekly Dance Medal Club.  Children welcome from 3 years of age.  The Strictly Dancer's Medal Club is for children who wish to take medals with the U.K.A and is course based and payable in advance per month.  Come and try your 1st lesson and pay only for that day.  If you love it and we are sure you will you will only have to pay your fees next time. 

The club is for children who are new to dance and wishing to learn for fun & social dancing, would like to take medals with a view to competing or for experienced dancers.  Children are taught within their Medal Group and routines and figures are taught for that level of dancer.  Medal Exams are taken 3 times a year with the U.K.A Examination Board.  Medal exams are entirely voluntary, children may join this club even if they do not wish to take medals.New members are always welcome!

Your child will learn steps in Ballroom & Latin suitable for their age and ability.  

The class will also concentrate on technique helping them to build their knowledge and understanding.    

Dance is a great way for your child to develop stronger communication skills, become more confident and aware of health and fitness.  It teaches them to have more respect for themselves and others.

Private Lessons

The 1st Dance Studio recommends  children who are new to Ballroom & Latin or who have had a break from dancing to take Private Lessons.  Lessons help them build their confidence & knowledge of dancing.  The advantage to Private Lessons is the individual attention and feedback you get from working in a one to one with your teacher.  This method of learning to dance is more beneficial than just going along to a weekly dance class & hoping your child is learning. 

Once they have taken a few Private Lessons we recommend them joining the Medal Club. A great way for them to socialise and make new dance friends.

1st Dance Workshops & Competitions

From time to time throughout the year guest Teachers and Dancers from the Dance World will come to the school for Workshops and Lessons.  The workshops will require booking in advance.  Keep watching the 'News & Events' boards. 

Why not become a member than you will always be informed of new classes or events!

There is also the opportunity to take part in competitions locally and around the Country. Either a 'Medal Competition'  where your child can compete with their teacher or an 'Open Competition' where they can compete as a dance couple.  Please ask the studio if this is something your child would like to do, we can help them on their path to a 'Competitive Dancing Career'.
